Love, Rosie

Another great movie is Love, Rosie. When Greg invited Rosie to the dance Alex referred to him as a bimbo. Bimbo means a foolish, stupid or inept person. I think that describes him perfectly.

About Time

About time is one of my favorite movies of all time. I just love how it's not the normal love story we are all used to. one word I didn't understand was relish. It means pleasurable appreciation of anything. They use this word on one of my favorite quotes:

Tim: We're all traveling through time together, every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish this remarkable ride.

I really recommend this movie for any time. It's amazing.

University!

I find this type of videos very entertaining. I don't know why, because i'm clearly not from the US or the UK. But it's always interesting to hear about other cultures and schools in other countries. The word I looked up was enlightened. It means freed from ignorance.

Say YES to saying NO

On this post they talk about the importance of taking care of ourselves. They say that we need to make sure we are ok before helping others out. They encourage people to use no as a hole sentence at lest once this month. An here are some guidelines:

  • Say no to burning yourself out (at school, work, et cetera) to get someone else’s approval.
  • Say no to other people’s judgments about who you are.
  • Say no to negative self-talk.
  • Say no to your inner voice if it criticizes you for negative self-talk and forgive yourself.
  • Say no to a habit that is no longer serving you.
  • Say no to fear, and literally tell your fear who’s boss and who is in control (you).
  • Say no to something that feels like an obligation (unless it’s homework or a promise you’ve already made) and choose inspiration instead.
  • Say no to _______. (Choose your own no!)
One word I didn't understand was vapid. That means dull or tedious. They use this word when they are talking about media and how it might be stifling the fact that they talk so much about balance and the pressure to have it all, be it all and do it all. I think this message is really important. Specially for young people.

Adrian Tomine on "Killing and Dying"

On this interview Tavi Gevinson is talking to the writer Adrian Tomine. They are talking about his new book, and it differentiates with his last one. He tried to do this one completely fictional, but at the end little things of his life reflects on the story. And he admits that was completely unintentional. He says he decided to do different stories inside te book because in his last book doing one story and the same characters again and again was tiering. The word I did´t understand was bland. It means when something tastes or is  flavorless or dull.

Ways to Embrace Autumn’s Arrival

I think my favorite season of the year is Autumn. I think it may be because you get to wear sweaters and comfy clothes but it's not that cold. On this post they tell you 4 ways to embrace autumn. That are: give yourself some to rest, explore things that are in season, be intentional and cleanse. I think thats a great way to start the season. The word I did't understand was linger. It means to remain or stay on in a place longer than is usual or expected, as if from reluctance to leave. They used this word to describe the sun during this time of the year.

Gossip Girl

On this scene Eric was saying he hoped that no one was trying to stop a wedding, run a Ponzi scheme , give anybody fake cancer or turn into a justifiably vengeful townie. I looked up what townie meant. It means a person that lives in a town. I think this series is great. Because you can always come back an watch it all over again and you will never get bored. Also, that fashion is on point.

Teens React to Caitlyn Jenner

On this video they show teenagers Caitlyn's interview with Diane Sawyer. Where she says she is transgender and she identifies as a woman. You can see the different points of view and opinions they have. But at the end everyone seems to support transgender people and encourage them to come out and live their life how they want to. A word they used to describe the way people usually see transgender is bizarre. It means markedly unusual, strange or odd. I'm glad the Fine Bros did this video, because it helps to create awareness about this issue.

Skins: Cassie and Sid

Cassie is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. In one of my favorite seasons of Skins Cassie has a crush on Sid.  And after Sid asks her she decides to show him how she does to trick her parents into thinking she's eating. A phrase she uses was gotta dash. I looked it up and it means to leave.

Things You Never Knew About Harry Potter

J.K Rowling just reveled new things about Harry's past and new information about the wizard world. I find it so cool that even though the saga has ended, years after we can still figure things out about our favorite characters. The word I looked up n the dictionary was illustrious. It means highly distinguished or famous. They use this word when they were describing the Potter family.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid is a fashion model. And recently she's been receiving al lot of criticism because of her body type. But a lot of models have show  mayor support to Gigi. The article carries on telling us facts about her life before she was a model and what she likes to do. The word I didn't understand was whirlwind. They used this word to describe his model career.  It means anything resembling a whirlwind, as in speed and force.

Caroline de Maigret

On this interview they talk to Caroline de Maigret. She's an awesome producer, model, mother, street style star and muse. It's so cool that she gets to do all the things she feel passionate about. And to live in such amazing cities, like New York and Paris. Also she's the writer of How to Be a Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style, and Bad Habits. I'm dying to read that book. She's also working on a documentary of education for women in India which sounds great. A word that used I didn't understand was epitome. It means a person or a thing that is typical of or possesses to a high degree the features of a whole class. They use this word to say she's the epitome of Parisian cool. And I'm sure she is.
