Super Thin Models May Be Banned From Catwalks

On this article they talk about a model called Rosie Nelson. She was asked from an agency to loose weight, when she skinny already. She made a petition so models can be protected from getting dangerously skinny. Right now, at least 50, 000  people have signed the petition. And the British government is working on a law where super skinny models can be banned from walking on the runway. The word I didn't understand on this article was diverted. It means to turn aside from a course or a direction. They used it at the beginning, referring to changing on their normal focus, from the clothes to the models.

Balmain for H&M

It seems like Teen Vogue is as exited as I am for the collaboration of Balmain with H&M. I can't wait for November, when the collection will finally hit stores. The word I didn't knew before reading this article was devise. It means to plan or elaborate. They use this word when they say they need to devise a serious plan of attack.

Ecology and Economics

My biology teacher left me and my classmates this assignment. You needed to go on this biology website and choose an article. I chose Ecology and Economics because it looked interesting and different from the other topics you could choose from. The article mainly talks about giving a monetary value to ecosystems. The word I didn't understood was underlie. It means to form the foundation of. It was used to say that the mechanics that underlie both economy and ecology are similar.

What If

I was watching Netflix, again and I found this amazing movie. To be honest I thought I wouldn't like it. But I actually loved it. It's funny and just different from other "romantic" movies I've seen. One word I had to looked up to verify the meaning was cynical. It means distrusting or disparaging the motives of others. This word is used in one of the quotes of the movie:

Wallace: "It's very easy to be cynical about love until you've had that instant connection. If you're lucky, it happens once in a lifetime."

Exploring New York

On this post they talk briefly about New York, adventures and friendship. It also has a lot of cool pictures. I absolutely love New York City. It's one of my favorite places I've ever been to. One word I didn't understand was exude. It means to project or display. They use this word when talking about the energy you can find in the city. And I totally agree.

Zella Day

On this video we can know more about one of my favorite artists of the moment Zella Day. She is amazing and her music is incredible. I really like how this video was shot and the vibe it has. The word I looked for was envision. It means to picture mentally. I think this word its like one of those words you think you know the meaning of, but not really. So it was a great idea to look it up. She used this word when she was describing how she view herself.

Cody Simpson's new album

It's so cool to hear about the upcoming projects of new artists. I can't wait to hear Cody's new album. I find it so interesting to hear about how it's like to be inside the music industry and to deal with record labels. I remember seeing Thirty Seconds To Mars' documentary and realizing all of the things artists have to deal with. A word i didn't knew was mellow. It means to chill out, relax or settle down. He used this word to describe his new music.

An interview with Elle Fanning

Elle is one of my favorite actresses of all times. Maybe it's because I can relate more, since we are almost the same age. I love her style and her work. On this interview she talks about her upcoming projects. Specially about the upcoming movie All About Ray, where she plays a transgender teen. I can't wait to see it. A word I didn't knew was memoir. It means an account of one's personal life and experiences; autobiography. Elle tells the interviewer she keeps Sally Mann's memoir on her bedside table.

Nick and Norah's infinite playlist

This was an amazing movie. Lately I've been watching movies I never knew existed but I'm loving them. This is why Netflix is one of my favorite things ever. While I was watching the movie they said a word I heard before but I didn't knew the meaning. It was barf. According to the dictionary it means the premature expulsion of consumed materials through the mouth and nose. So, it's basically to throw up. I figured that out on the movie but it's always good to verify. Now, I wished I hadn't looked for it. The word was used in this quote:

Thom: Would someone mind telling me where we're going?
Norah: You know how some people like to eat at the same places?
Nick: Yeah.
Norah: Well Caroline likes to barf in the same places.

Scream queens

I can't wait to see this. I was so exited when I first saw the trailer. Wile I was watching I didn't understand a word. The word is vicious. That means disposed to evil. That word was used by the father of a girl that was looking forward to join one of the sororities.

Carrie

My sister told me she saw this movie with her friends. I was surprised because she normally wouldn't watch a horror movie. She said it wasn't scary, and I wanted to see it for a while so I looked it up on Netflix. I was afraid it would be too scary but it wasn't. I really enjoyed it. One of the things that it's obviously part of the storyline is that Carrie can move things with her mind. That's called telekinesis, when I was watching it I kind of knew what it meant but I wasn't 100% sure. So I decided to look it up and it officially means the movement of a body caused by thought or willpower without the application of physical force.

New things

This is just what I needed. Something new, funny and that in a way takes you to the past. It's always fun to discover new things, specially new websites. Because after a while reading the same things over and over can be dull. The word I looked in the dictionary, because I wasn't sure what it meant, was unsavory. It means socially or morally objectionable or offensive. And those are the best things to read about if you want to have another perspective and a little fun.

My horoscope for the week

I love reading my horoscope. I'm not sure if I totally believe what it says it will happen to me but it's always fun. It can guide you into trying new things and being more open. To be honest I only read what it has to says about Gemini, because that is my sign. But while I was reading I found a word I didn't comprehend. It was rekindle. That means to revive or renew. It was used when it said that maybe rekindling an old flame isn't the best idea. Maybe we should just wait and see what happens.

Lucky Blue Smith

I think I just watched this video 100 times. I just love this type of content and the editing was on point. It's always a good thing when you can know more about a model or a celebrity. Most people think famous people are either crazy attention seekers or just boring. But this type of videos prove them wrong. The word I found was lanky. That means to be tall and skinny. Which most of the models are.

It's time to do Paris

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world according to many enthusiastic travelers. Many people think it's overestimated, but I think you need to go there and create your own opinion. To be honest Paris has been on my  bucket list for a while. I love this post refers to all the things I think I want to do while I visit Paris: shop, explore and eat. I can't believe I haven't been there. I'm really looking forward to going and having a blast. The new word I discovered while I was reading was brisk it means sharp and stimulating. They were talking about the sales workers at a store and their attitude.

It's On Us

I think this kind of campaigns are so important. Recently sexual assault has been on the news more than usual, but it has always been there. It's so important to create awareness for this issue. And even more important to remember all this people that sex without consent is rape. And so many people refuse to speak about this topic, but it's something we need to open up so we can stop this and prevent it if we can. Supporting this organizations we can be part of the solution and make a change.

At first I saw the video and just when it was ending I saw a word I wasn't 100% sure of the meaning. The word was pledge. I looked it up and it means a formal or solemn promise or agreement. When I searched for itsonus.org it was so much clearer. On this page you can take a pledge. This pledge is a "personal commitment to help keep women or men safe from sexual assault". Its a pledge to be part of the solution.

Acne Studios new eye opening campaign

It's refreshing to see something outside of the normal. The first thing I noticed were the fantastic  photographs for this campaign featured by Frasse Johannson. I think they are clever and unique. It's great that they have not put this collection in a box. Where only certain people can wear it, but instead they've embraced something that many people may think it's unusual or alternative.  And that's what makes this campaign exceptional.

Reading the article I discovered a word i didn't knew the meaning of. The word is donning. That means to put on or dress in. I guess that is a common word on the fashion industry. This word was used when they described 11 year-old Frasse Johannson wearing the new fall/winter 2015 campaign for women.

Lord of the flies

I really think I was the only one to be exited by the fact that they are making us read this book for school. I think it's a classic that everyone should read, even if they don't want to. However I just started reading it a couple days ago and so far so good. However there are some words i needed to look up on the dictionary because I had no idea of what they mean. One of the words is on the first paragraph. There are describing where Jack's at. The word is festoon. It means a string or chain of flowers, foliage, ribbon, suspended in a curve between two points.

Ginger & Rosa

I saw this film yesterday. It takes you to another world. Maybe its just me. But I feel like it leaves you with this  taste in your mouth that is not sour or sweet, it's just there. When I chose this movie I wasn't expecting what it turned out to be. To be honest, it surprised me. I really like this type of films. They are just consuming and fascinating at same time.  It's nice to get away from the norm sometimes.

The new word I discovered is supplicant. A supplicant can be a fervently religious person who prays to God for help with a problem, and it can also be someone who begs earnestly for something she or he wants. Roland says he's happy that his daughter turned out to be an activist and not a supplicant. He said that when Ginger told him about the time she went to church with Rosa.

One of my favorite quotes of the film:

Ginger: I’ve loved you, Rosa, but we are very different. You dream of everlasting love, not me. Despite the horror and the sorrow, I love our world. I want us all to live. What really matters is to live and if we live, there will be nothing to forgive.

                                                                                     Trailer

Dear me

This video resonated so much with me. I feel like sometimes , while we are in front of our computers, we forget there is a whole world outside waiting to be explored. And that if we want to achieve our goals or make our dreams come true we need to get up and do something.

The word I discovered was complacent. That means "very pleased", its when someone is unconcerned by something that should concern them, and they may neglect their duties. I think this fits into everyones life just a little bit. And maybe we just don't want to realize it.

Answers for all your questions

Every time I watch a video form the Mandeville sisters i can't stop laughing. This sisters make me laugh so much. They remind me of me and my sister. This kind of content is what we need more of. Just people having fun and spreading happiness and laughter into the world.

The word they used that I didn't understood was baffle. That means, to confuse. Certainly if I was them I would definitely be baffled after filming this video.

The best of L.A

I really love reading about people exploring new places. It gives me a sense of exploring I didn't knew I had. L.A is a place that lots of people find overestimated. When I think about traveling for some reason I always think of anywhere else (mostly New York). But posts like this give me a view
of the city in an eye-opening way. Now I would really like to go to L.A and explore the  amazing restaurants and the lovely beaches. But mainly, reading this makes me want to go out side and have incredible adventures.

The new word i found out about is juxtaposition. It is a technique in which two or more ideas are placed side by side for the purpose of developing comparisons and contrasts. Ella uses this word when she is talking about how she saw ad felt L.A through her journey.
