LIES

I love how this video is suppose to help you detect lies others tell you. But I guess I'm the only one that while watching this video is taking notes so I can tell better lies. I'm not a frequent liar but I must confess sometimes I have to lie so I don't hurt others feelings or so I don't make a fool of myself. One word I didn't understand was physiology. It means the organic functions in an organism. They used this word while saying that maybe telling lies can produce physiological changes.

Clueless

I think one teen movie classic is Clueless. It's funny and you can watch it at any time and you will instantly cheer up. I love seeing the fashion on this movie, it gives me so much inspiration for my outfits. I was watching this movie for the 15h time and while i was watching itI realize theres a word I didn't understand. It was swoon. And it means to ve overwhelmed with joy.  Looking it further I found the exact quote of the movie where they mention it. So enjoy:

Cher Horowitz: So okay, I don't want to be a traitor to my generation and all but I don't get how guys dress today. I mean, come on, it looks like they just fell out of bed and put on some baggy pants and take their greasy hair - ew - and cover it up with a backwards cap and like, we're expected to swoon? I don't think so.

The representation project

I think this video covers a very important point that at this point is really relevant. I don't know why only at this time of history this has been brought up, but gender stereotypes are a real problem. And we need to change that. And that's why I really appreciate celebrities that support this campaign to help bring awareness. And as a new generation we, the young people, need to help to make a difference in the world and make a change. A word I didn't understand was pledge. It means a binding promise.

Forever young?

This article talks about the new idea of transferring your consciousness to an artificial body so you could live forever. I think that years ago I would be fascinated with the idea. But now I'm not thrilled. This is because, on a Netflix series called Hemlock Grove Dr. Johaan Pryce does exactly this. And at the end the results were not good. And you can say that was totally fiction, but really who knows what would happen.  I guess we could find out on the future.

The word I didn't understand is cryogenically. It means that it's suitable to cryogenic storage that relates to low temperature. They use this word to describe how they would storage your brain.

Serena Williams and Amy Schumer's stunning portraits shot by Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz is an amazing photographer that is mainly know for her portraits. This time she shot naked portraits of Serena Williams and Amy Schumer. And I think this portraits really reveal that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. And I find it immensely courageous that this women can pose nude  in front of millions of people. I also love how Amy can make fun of herself and still be confident with her body. And I think every girl's role model should be someone that inspires them to be themselves and be confident.

The phrase I didn't understand was scantily clad. It means undressed. And they used this phrase to describe the models  that Annie Leibovitz shot.

Also I have a love/hate relationship with Snape, so it's always good to know more about him. The word I didn't understand was dichotomy. It means contradictory qualities. And she used this word to describe Snape.

Little Mix for Teen Vogue

Photosynthesis by Frank Turner

The lyrics of this song are amazing. I'm not a big fan of the song perhaps, but what it says resonates so much with my thoughts lately about life and whats ahead of me. Now that I'm closer to make the decision of what university I'm applying and more important which career I'm choosing. But ultimately I think the most important thing is to remember to do something that makes you happy, whatever it is.

I'm 17

I think Kate Simonds is absolutely right. And I really believe that everyone I know (teenagers) could identify with what she is saying. Most of the times we find adults telling us we are not old enough or mature enough to do something or to talk about an specific topic. And we need to change that because what we have to say is as important as anything any adult say. And lately I've been seeing some changes, but we need to keep things going. To anyone interested on this topic I recommend the WWF app where you can learn more about  animals and you can contribute to the cause. They give you different facts about each animal. And while I was reading about elephants, they mention what farmers do to protect their crops and protect the animals in the region. The word I didn't understand was smearing. One word I had to looked up to verify the meaning was cynical. It means distrusting or disparaging the motives of others. This word is used in one of the quotes of the movie:

Nick and Norah's infinite playlist

This was an amazing movie. Lately I've been watching movies I never knew existed but I'm loving them. This is why Netflix is one of my favorite things ever. While I was watching the movie they said a word I heard before but I didn't knew the meaning. It was barf. According to the dictionary it means the premature expulsion of consumed materials through the mouth and nose. So, it's basically to throw up. I figured that out on the movie but it's always good to verify. Now, I wished I hadn't looked for it. The word was used in this quote:

Norah: You know how some people like to eat at the same places?
Nick: Yeah.
Norah: Well Caroline likes to barf in the same places.

Scream queens

I can't wait to see this. I was so exited when I first saw the trailer. Wile I was watching I didn't understand a word. The word is vicious. That means disposed to evil. That word was used by the father of a girl that was looking forward to join one of the sororities.

Carrie

My sister told me she saw this movie with her friends. I was surprised because she normally wouldn't watch a horror movie. She said it wasn't scary, and I wanted to see it for a while so I looked it up on Netflix. I was afraid it would be too scary but it wasn't. I really enjoyed it. One of the things that it's obviously part of the storyline is that Carrie can move things with her mind. That's called telekinesis, when I was watching it I kind of knew what it meant but I wasn't 100% sure. So I decided to look it up and it officially means the movement of a body caused by thought or willpower without the application of physical force.

Supporting this organizations we can be part of the solution and make a change.

At first I saw the video and just when it was ending I saw a word I wasn't 100% sure of the meaning. The word was pledge. I looked it up and it means a formal or solemn promise or agreement. When I searched for itsonus.org it was so much clearer. On this page you can take a pledge. This pledge is a "personal commitment to help keep women or men safe from sexual assault". Acne Studios new eye opening campaign

It's refreshing to see something outside of the normal. The first thing I noticed were the fantastic  photographs for this campaign featured by Frasse Johannson. I think they are clever and unique. It's great that they have not put this collection in a box. Where only certain people can wear it, but instead they've embraced something that many people may think it's unusual or alternative.  And that's what makes this campaign exceptional.

Reading the article I discovered a word i didn't knew the meaning of. The word is donning. That means to put on or dress in. I guess that is a common word on the fashion industry. This word was used when they described 11 year-old Frasse Johannson wearing the new fall/winter 2015 campaign for women.

Lord of the flies

I really think I was the only one to be exited by the fact that they are making us read this book for school. I think it's a classic that everyone should read, even if they don't want to. However I just started reading it a couple days ago and so far so good. However there are some words i needed to look up on the dictionary because I had no idea of what they mean. One of the words is on the first paragraph. There are describing where Jack's at. The word is festoon. It means a string or chain of flowers, foliage, ribbon, suspended in a curve between two points.
